His parents were both born in Germany. He was an ethnic German in the German enclave of Sulwalki in Russia. Sulwalki was the last residence of Hortense and Frank. They both arrived in New York on March 9, 1887 on board the DEVONIA.
Hortense left her husband in Sep 1895 with their 3 children and went back to Switzerland, where she lived in Clarens, Montreux and Vevey.
Frank Kausch married Elizabeth McGlinchey in 1904 in Philadelphia. In 1920 they were living with one daughter in Philadelphia.
