But as my mother's maiden name is KOHTZ and her ancestors also come from the same greater area,

They arrived on the "Köln" (Cologne) from Bremen to New York on April 22, 1872

with their three surviving children Friedrich, Hermann and Hulda.

Seven more children were born in America.

Martin KOHTZ was a shoemaker in Germany and a farmer in Nebraska.

 

** The second name David was not found in any discovered document for Martin, but is reported by his descendants.

Only his tombstone says: D. M. Kohtz
